Making the News
Historian Pedro Castillo fielded a call about the Bracero Program from the
San Jose Mercury News.
Biologist Don Croll was featured on the radio progam Pulse of the Planet
in a segment about Croll's research on penguins in Antarctica. Pulse of the Planet
is broadcast on public and commercial radio stations around the world, including
KUSP, KQED, KALW, and KBOQ.
A story in the Santa Cruz County Sentinel about the restoration of Long Marine
Lab's blue whale skeleton and its reassembly at the Seymour Center featured quotes
from campus veterinarian Dave Casper, Seymour Center director Julie Barrett
Heffington, and Long Marine Lab manager Steve Davenport. The skeleton
is being reassembled in preparation for the opening of the center in March. Heffington
was also quoted in a Sentinel story about the formal dedication of the Seymour
Center on January 15.
Psychology's Anthony Pratkanis provided morning-after analysis for the
Orange County Register's coverage of how people ushered in the new millennium.
