UCSC
Extension wins award for brochure cover
UCSC Extension received the Best Brochure Cover Award for Continuing
Education from Learning Resources Network
(LERN) for its Winter 2003 catalog.
The cover was designed by Joan Boffa-Dentone, art director at UCSC
Extension's Marketing Department.
LERN credited Extension for a "professional and high-tech theme,
with courses on robotics and programming on the cover, mixes well with
the graphic design of this cover."
LERN is an international association for providers of continuing education
and lifelong learning.

President Atkinson wins
NSF award for lifetime contributions
University of California President Richard C. Atkinson has been named
recipient of the National Science Foundation's 2003 Vannevar Bush award
for lifetime contributions to the nation in science and technology.
Atkinson will receive the award from the National Science Board at
a May 21 awards dinner at the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
He is the 25th recipient of the award since its inception in 1980.
The Bush award recognizes the recipient's public service contributions
in addition to calling attention to the important role science and technology
play in improving our way of life.
