The Oakland Tribune did a feature article about a UC study of first-year students that’s being conducted by psychology’s Margarita Azmitia.

The Associated Press, Santa Cruz Sentinel, and San Jose Mercury News were among the media outlets that reported on the faculty approval of an antiwar resolution sponsored by Paul Ortiz of community studies.

Michael Riordan, adjunct professor of physics, was quoted in a New York Times article about a German physicist who independently invented the transistor shortly after the Bell Laboratories researchers who won fame and Nobel Prizes for the invention.

Astronomer Puragra (Raja) GuhaThakurta was featured in an article in the Mid-County Post about research in astronomy at UCSC.

Lindsay Hinck, assistant professor of molecular, cell, and developmental biology, and John Tamkun, professor and chair of MCD biology, were quoted in a Santa Cruz Sentinel article about UCSC's new health sciences major.

An article in Good Times about coastal erosion and seawalls featured the comments of Gary Griggs, director of the Institute of Marine Sciences, and graduate student Dawn Osborn.

Harry Noller, Sinsheimer Professor of Molecular Biology, was interviewed on the KUSP Radio program Talk of the Bay on the subject of UCSC's role in the Human Genome Project.
