Appointments
Donna Hunter, Sandra Pacheco, Steven Santiago
Frank Talamantes, vice provost and dean of graduate studies, has announced the
appointments of three new senior staff members in the Division of Graduate Studies.
Donna Hunter, associate professor of art history, will
serve as the associate dean. She will be involved in the implementation of systemwide
and campus policies involving graduate student admissions, graduate student support,
and the maintenance of quality academic standards in all graduate programs. She will
assist departments in the development of new graduate programs and will monitor graduate
program reviews. She will also develop pedagogical mechanisms for training students
in areas such as teaching and grant writing.
Sandra Pacheco, who holds a Ph.D. in experimental psychology
from UCSC, will serve as the assistant dean of graduate studies. She will be involved
in the recruitment and retention of graduate students, the development of programs
with foreign countries, such as Mexico, for the recruitment and training of graduate
students, and the development of a formal centralized mechanism to organize the postdoctoral
fellows on campus.
Steven Santiago will serve as the information technology
manager for the Graduate Division. He will be responsible for the development and
maintenance of the electronic transactions of the Graduate Division.
