Judit Moschkovich, assistant professor of education, has coedited a new monograph entitled, "Everyday and Academic Mathematics in the Classroom." Coedited by Mary E. Brenner, the monograph is the eleventh in a monograph series published by the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education.
The monograph focuses on what happens when everyday and academic mathematical practices are incorporated into classroom instruction. It provides a theoretical basis for evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of using everyday mathematical activities as resources to extend students' learning in the classroom.
