			Making the News
			Research on star clusters by Jean Brodie, professor of astronomy and astrophysics,
			and postdoctoral research Soeren Larsen was featured in the Santa Cruz
			Sentinel, Western Mail (United Kingdom), the Advertiser (South
			Australia), and the U.K. Press Association news wire. 
			Brent Haddad of environmental studies was quoted in a recent Los Angeles
			Times article about California's water woes. 
			 
			Brian Walton, coordinator of the Predatory Bird Research Group, was quoted
			in stories about golden eagles preying on endangered island foxes on the Channel
			Islands. Stories ran in the Ventura County Star and the Associated Press news
			wire. 
			The Farm's Thomas Wittman had a hit with his recent gopher-control workshops,
			and his expertise was featured in articles that appeared in the Santa Cruz Sentinel,
			the San Jose Mercury News, and the Monterey County Herald.  
			 
			Stories in the San Jose Mercury News and Santa Cruz Sentinel about
			the new STEPS Institute included quotes from professor of ecology and evolutionary
			biology John Thompson. Associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology
			Mark Carr was interviewed by KSBW (Channel 8) about the new institute. 
			 
			Peter Macht, aquarium curator at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, was
			quoted in the Santa Cruz Sentinel in a story about "by-the-wind sailors,"
			hydrozoan sea creatures that washed up on local beaches by the thousands last week.
