UC MBEST Center offers insights on economic development

Lora Lee Martin, director of the UC MBEST Center, was invited to write the lead article for the Spring 2004 issue of Economic Development America, a magazine published by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The focus of this issue of the magazine is "Regionalism: Maximizing Effective Partnerships for Economic Development."

Martin's article is entitled "Expanding Boundaries - Opportunities for Innovative Regional Economic Development Strategies."

UCSC established the Monterey Bay Education, Science, and Technology (MBEST) Center as a cornerstone of the Fort Ord redevelopment effort. MBEST focuses on developing collaborative research-business opportunities in the Monterey Bay Crescent region.
