UCSC firefighters send nearly $10,000 to New York
A fund-raising campaign, launched by UCSC's Firefighters Association in the days
after the September 11 attacks, has raised nearly $10,000 for the widows and children
of the New York City firefighters who perished that day.
The UCSC association sent a letter and
a check for $9,710.27 to New York on October 31.
The money was raised by UCSC firefighters, who staffed donation tables in front
of the Bay Tree Bookstore after the attacks. Donations were also sent directly to
			the association.
Mike Quinton, UCSC fire captain and a representative of the association, said
the generosity of UCSC faculty, staff, and students, and local residents made the
association's donation possible. "We would like to thank the many people who
made this drive such an incredible success," he said.
