Frances Fox Piven, one of the nation's leading political analysts and a voting rights activist, will discuss race and electoral disenfranchisement during a free public lecture at UCSC on Tuesday, March 4. Can you see me now? Speech therapy to be delivered via cell phone
Researchers at UCSC have received funding from Microsoft Research to develop a virtual speech therapist, accessible on a cell phone, to aid stroke survivors in Malaysia. The program will use a computer-generated talking head that provides realistic speech and mimics the natural movements of lips, tongue, and jaw. [More]
