Regents' visit termed a success despite protest

UC Regents visiting UCSC last week heard from Acting Chancellor Blumenthal and others about the campus's success in drawing disparate disciplines together to solve problems. Regents also met with students, faculty, and staff during the two-day visit. A protest at a public-comment site, however, forced the cancellation of some events. "As a result, our visitors missed several planned presentations of the exceptional work of our students and faculty,'' Blumenthal and Campus Provost David Kliger said in a campus message.
