Openings in recreation classes
The Recreation Department has openings in the following classes. Register online at

West African Dance
Mondays, Jan. 22-March 5, 7:30-9 p.m.
Instructor Deb Voisin has studied and practiced West African dance intensely for seven years
and taught for two. Cost is $35.
Wilderness First Aid # 2
Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 27-28, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Fast-paced and hands-on, this two-day course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine
topics for people who travel in the outdoors. Cost is $175 for members of the community;
UCSC students are eligible for a $50 scholarship.
Thursday, Feb. 1, 5 to 8 p.m.
Join Jozseph Schultz, winner of the 2007 Gail Rich Award, veteran of 25 years of Asian
cooking, teaching, and travel, in a culinary journey to the fast and fabulous world of
Thai Cuisine. Cost is $25.
Friday, Feb. 2, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Learn to provide care for breathing and
cardiac emergencies including performing adult, child, and infant CPR, rescue breathing,
accessing Emergency Medical Services, and preventing disease transmission. Cost is $22.
