The culmination of a distance arts education project
between UCSC and New York University was broadcast simultaneously at both
campuses recently with the performance of the dance Lubricious Transfer.
Students, staff, and faculty at both universities worked together on the

UCSC alum Hector Tobar slept under the stars in a Bedouin
village during the Iraq war, covered the Los Angeles riots--sharing a
Pulitzer Prize for his work-- and has just written a book, Translation
Nation, about the new "Latin Republic of the United States."
