Panel to look at 'God in the Middle East'

A Jewish rabbi, a former Fatah fighter, a Muslim imam, and an Israeli messianic Jew will be the panelists at a discussion at 7:30 p.m. February 17 in the Media Theater.

“God in the Middle East: Faith and Palestinian/Israeli Reconciliation,” is sponsored by the Veritas Forum and International Students Inc.

Panelists are:

  • Shalom Bochner, executive director of the Santa Cruz Hillel Foundation
  • Taysir Abu Saada, who was once a Fatah sniper and now urges peace
  • Souleiman Ghali, the cofounder and current president of the Islamic Society of San Francisco
  • Noad Asaf Shapiro, who was raised on a kibbutz, moved to the United States, and now finds his faith leading him toward greater sensitivity of Palestinian concerns

Additional information on the discussion is available by calling (831) 475-5157.

People with disabilities needing an accommodation to attend the event are urged to call (831) 459-2934.
