New view of distant colliding galaxies captured

New observations are revealing unprecedented details of colliding galaxies with massive black holes at their cores. Astronomers have combined the deepest optical images of the universe, obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope, with equally sharp images using a sophisticated new laser guide star system at the W. M. Community collaborations receive nearly $1 million

A nonprofit foundation focused on “helping people help themselves,” has awarded a nearly $1 million grant to support two of UCSC’s most highly regarded community collaborations for promoting educational achievement, economic equity, and environmental justice. UCSC’s Bridging Multiple Worlds Alliance and the Center for Justice, Tolerance, and Community will share the W. K. Kellogg Foundation grant. [More]
