Grant
supports efforts to prevent bird, bat deaths
Thousands
of hawks, eagles, owls, and bats die each year from interactions with
utility structures, including wind turbines, electrical conductors, and
distribution poles. The Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group, which
has been overseeing research on the problem since 2002, has received an
additional $2 million for its work from the California Energy Commission.
