Ann McCrow
Ann McCrow has been appointed director of development for the arts, replacing Alex Sydnor. She has been the director of development for Shakespeare Santa Cruz since 1997. During her tenure, giving increased by 74 percent and Team Biz (a sponsorship program for small and medium-sized businesses) has grown 400 percent. McCrow was also instrumental in securing a $65,000 operating grant and a $50,000 strategic planning grant from the Packard Foundation and designing a new benefits program specifically for corporate sponsors.
John Idstrom
John Idstrom has been chosen for the position of director of development for engineering. He comes to UCSC with 16 years of successful fundraising experience. For the past five years, he has served as the first-ever director of development and campus advancement for the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington. Idstrom has planned, carried out, and contributed to numerous successful capital and endowment campaigns as a development officer at the University of Washington, University of Minnesota, and as a consultant with the Collins Group. Idstrom received the 1998 CASE Gold Award in the special events category for his work on the UW Tacoma grand opening.
