Michael Mateas, assistant professor of computer science,
was profiled in the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
He was also a guest on the KGO TV (ABC San Francisco) public
affairs show Beyond the Headlines for a one-hour special
on computer games.
Economist Lori Kletzer’s work on the impacts of globalization on jobs was featured in a lengthy story in The Economist. Kletzer’s recent proposal to overhaul the U.S. unemployment system was also featured in the Christian Science Monitor.
Geologist Gary Griggs was interviewed on KSCO Radio
about his new book, Then and Now: Santa Cruz Coast.
Newhouse Newspapers relied heavily on the expertise of Melanie DuPuis of sociology for a story about the array of milk choices available today. The story was distributed to more than 20 newspapers across North America
Research led by molecular biologist Harry Noller on
the structure of the ribosome was featured on Biology News Net,
Bionity.com, and PhysOrg.com.
Greg Gilbert of environmental studies pitched
in to help KAZU Radio with its coverage of the E. coli
outbreak.
