Founding Oakes provost J. Herman Blake and Blumenthal will be joined in the discussion by Campus Provost David Kliger.

Divisions, departments, and the colleges will roll out the welcome mat for alumni, faculty, and friends at the annual campus reunion weekend on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28.

Academic-themed events include the All-Sciences Reunion, Education Department Reunion, Psychology Department Reunion, and the Jack Baskin School of Engineering 10th Anniversary Celebration. The Social Sciences Division will host a luncheon celebrating emeriti faculty with an award to Professor Emeritus William Friedland; classical studies will have a reception honoring retiring Professor John Lynch.

The Alumni Association will hold three major events to which all faculty, staff, and alumni are invited. The All-Alumni Reunion Luncheon will give special recognition to the classes of '67, '72, '77, '82, '87, '92, '97, and '02.

Immediately following will be the Distinguished Faculty Lecture and Alumni Panel Discussion featuring AIDS vaccine expert Phillip Berman, chair of biomolecular engineering.

The popular late-afternoon Alumni Vintners Wine Tasting will offer select wines, gourmet food, and music, all by alumni.

Provost receptions will be held at each of the colleges.

For its 40th anniversary, Crown will showcase women in science with a presentation by award-winning epidemiologist Cheryl Scott (Oakes '74); Cowell's reception will welcome classics majors and friends.

Other events include the first-ever EOP Summer Bridge Program Reunion dinner; "Admissions 101" for families with college-bound students; a benefit golf tournament; an Opera Program performance; a Class of '72 get-together; and gatherings sponsored by Student Organization Advising and Resources, Hillel (for Jewish students and faculty), the Lionel Cantú Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Intersex Resource Center, the Asian American/Pacific Islander Resource Center, and Black Escargot, UCSC's African American alumni affinity group.
