Lecturer awarded national poetry prize
Literature lecturer Charles Atkinson has been named winner
of The Sow's Ear Poetry Review annual chapbook competition.
The winning volume will be published in 2006. He was also the
runner-up in Atlanta Review's 2005 international poetry
competition.

Atkinson has won prizes in a number of national poetry competitions
over the last several years including: the 2004 annual poetry
award from The Ledge magazine, the 2002 Briar Cliff
Review Prize from Briar Cliff College, the 2001 Emily Dickinson
Award from Universities West Press, and second prize in the
2002 War Poetry Contest sponsored by WinningWriters.com.
All of these awards carry prizes of $1,000.
