Lisa Sloan, Carl Walsh named vice provosts

Lisa Sloan has been named vice provost and dean
of Graduate Studies and Carl Walsh has been named vice provost
for Silicon Valley initiatives.
Sloan came to UCSC in 1992 as a research scientist with the
Institute of Marine Sciences; in 1994, she joined the Department
of Earth Sciences. She has served as associate dean of Graduate
Studies since 2004.
Walsh, a professor of economics, has served as faculty assistant
to the chancellor for the past year with responsibilities for
Silicon Valley initiatives.
Walsh will have responsibility for academic programs based
in Silicon Valley, the NASA Ames University Affiliated Research
Center (UARC), and the Bio-Info-Nano Research and Development
Institute (BIN RDI).
