Lawrence Weschler to give book talk at Cowell
on March 17
Longtime New Yorker magazine staff writer and UCSC alumnus
Lawrence Weschler will celebrate his new book, Everything
That Rises: A Book of Convergences, on Friday, March 17,
at 4 p.m. in the Cowell College Page Smith Library. The event
is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Weschler is the author of 11 books, including Mr. Wilson's
Cabinet of Wonder (1995), a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize
and the National Book Critics Circle Award. He spent 20 years
as a staff writer at the New Yorker before retiring in
2002. His work has twice won him a George Polk Award, and he
has also received a Lannan Literary Award. Weschler has taught
at Princeton, Columbia, Bard, Vassar, and Sarah Lawrence, and
he is currently the director of the New York Institute for the
Humanities at NYU.
