Classes in truffle-making, CPR, and spa treatments have openings

The Recreation Department has openings in classes in truffle-making, CPR, and home spa treatments. Register over the phone at (831) 459-2806, stop by the office at the East Field House, or check the web site.

Chocolate Decadence
Sat., February 11, 1-3 p.m.
Participants will walk away from this class with their own plate of eight to 12 luscious hazelnut, grand marnier and raspberry truffles. They will be introduced to this art form starting with a brief history of chocolate-making, followed by a demonstration leading into hands-on truffle-making. Participants will help with clean-up. Bring a container for truffles. Sign up in advance. Cost: $18. Location: Village Housing Communal Kitchen. Instructor: Stephany Buswell.

CPR Heartsaver #2
Fri., February 10, 6-8:30 p.m.
This class is designed to prepare individuals to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies including performing adult, child and infant CPR, rescue breathing, accessing Emergency Medical Services and preventing disease transmission. American Heart certification issued upon completion. Sign up in advance. Cost: $22. Location: OPERS Conference Room, EFH. Instructor: Jim Novotny.

Home Spa Treatments
Thurs., February 9, 7-9 p.m.
In this workshop, you will make your own aromatherapy bath salts and a simple soap from a melt and pour soap base, both great Valentine's Day gifts. The instructor will discuss the different properties of the ingredients and share several recipes for other bath products. A relaxing home spa treatment will be included as well as all the materials. Cost: $20. Location: Women's Center. Instructor: Laurie Mount.
