Linguistics professor awarded prestigious fellowship

Junko Itô

Junko Itô, professor and chair of the Linguistics Department, has been awarded a prestigious 2006-07 Invitation Fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Japanese counterpart to the National Science Foundation.

In collaboration with host scientist Professor Haruo Kubozono at Kobe University, Itô will work on her long-term research project aiming to discover the principles underlying word formation in human language.
