Terrie Williams at Capitola Book Cafe
Terrie Williams, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology,
will do a presentation and book-signing at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday,
December 2, at Capitola Book Cafe. Her book, The Hunter's
Breath, tells about Antarctica's Weddell seals as well as
the human story of adventure and discovery in one of the most
punishing environments on Earth. Williams will show Antarctic
slides and some underwater video, as well as talk about her
adventures on ice.
Bookstore offering holiday specials
For the month of December, the Bay Tree Bookstore will offer a 20 percent discount on all
general books, including best sellers and new releases. Sale items and special orders are excluded. The bookstore
is also having a special one-day holiday sale on Wednesday, December 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will
be a 20 percent discount on all UCSC apparel, insignia, ornaments, and plush gift items. Light refreshments will
be offered throughout the day. The sale excludes items previously marked down or on sale.
Campus closure begins Dec. 24
Winter's campus closure will occur from Friday, December 24,
2004, through Sunday, January 2, 2005. In all, the campus will
be closed for 10 days. See Administrative
