OPERS offers Wilderness First Aid
OPERS is offering a Wilderness First Aid/Wilderness First Reponder
Recertification class on the weekend of October 23 and 24. The
class is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at Stevenson College,
Room 175.
This course covers the basics of emergency care with emphasis
on extended care situations. A wilderness first aid card is
awarded upon completion. The course may be used to recertify
WFR cards from WMI, NOLS, SOLO, WMA, or WPT.
The cost is $110 for UCSC students and $160 for everyone else.

Wellness Center gives series of classes on
health building
The Wellness Center is offering a series of four classes aimed
at helping you understand your metabolism, put together the
right workout, make positive changes in your eating habits,
and achieve optimal energy and health. The cost of each class
is $15 or $45 for the series of four. The classes are on consecutive
Mondays beginning on October 18.
The first class, titled "High Energy Nutrition--High Energy
Living," will provide each individual with a "personal
profile based on metabolism, dosha, and blood type" and
a personal format for the most effective exercise for fat loss
and energy optimization.

Prenatal and postpartum yoga class begins
Oct. 11
The Womens's Center is offering a prenatal and postpartum yoga
class for faculty, staff, and students. The class will be held
on Mondays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. from October 11 through December
13 at the Women's Center. Classes may be attended on a drop-in
basis or as a whole series. The cost is $7 per class.
Yoga is an excellent way to help your body adapt to the physical
and emotional changes of pregnancy, childbirth, and early motherhood.
Each class will include breathing exercises, stretching and
strengthening postures, relaxation, and an opportunity to get
to know other expectant and new moms.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat or blanket. No prior
yoga experience necessary.
