City distributes info on Measure X
The City of Santa Cruz will be conducting a mail-ballot election
on August 30, asking the following question: "In order
to limit further reduction in the City's General Fund, shall
that Santa Cruz Municipal Code be amended to add a Chapter imposing
a Franchise Tax of 3% on the water utility rate, 3% on the sewer
utility rate, and 12% on the refuse utility rate, to replace
the comparable Franchise Fee that was recently discontinued?"
Measure X ballots will be mailed to city voters by the County
Clerk/Elections Department on August 2, and these ballots must
be returned to either the City Clerk's Department or County
Clerk/Elections by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30.

To be eligible to vote in the August 30 election, you must
be registered to vote in the City of Santa Cruz. If you have
moved, changed your name, or wish to change your party affiliation,
you must re-register to vote by completing a new voter's registration
card available online at www.votescount.com
or at the City Clerk's Office, post offices, libraries, or by
calling (831) 454-2060. The deadline to register to vote is
August 15.
The deadline for a temporary change of summer mailing address
is July 22. You must include your name, birth date, address
where you live in Santa Cruz, new mailing address, and signature.
