In Memoriam
Gail Schaumberg
Gail Schaumberg, who worked as a research analyst in the Social
Science Division, died of cancer at Dominican Hospital on May
6. She was 52.
Gail started working at UCSC in 1999 as a budget analyst at
the Educational Partnership Center. In 2004 she moved to the
Social Sciences Division, where she worked until her illness
forced her to take a medical leave of absence. Before coming
to the campus, she had worked for Watkins Johnson and Skyway
Freight.
Gail's mother, Dorothy Schaumberg, is curator of the Mary Lea
Shane Archives of Lick Observatory at McHenry Library.
A celebration of Gail's life will be held at the family's home
following a private burial on May 21; for more information,
