The San Jose Mercury News, Santa Cruz Sentinel, Watsonville
Register-Pajaronian, and Good Times all ran feature
stories on UCSC's 2005 Pacific Rim Music Festival, quoting artistic
director and associate music professor Hi Kyung Kim and
music professor Nicole Paiement. Metro Santa Cruz
also ran a story on the festival quoting music lecturer John
Sackett.
Biology graduate student Robin Dunkin was quoted in
a story in the Watsonville Register-Pajaronian about
recent killer whale attacks on migrating gray whales in Monterey
Bay.
American studies professor Tricia Rose was quoted in
the Chicago Sun-Times about her participation in a three-day
conference on feminism and hip-hop in Chicago aimed at battling
hip-hop stereotypes.
The Aptos Times ran a story about research on wireless
communication networks by J. J. García-Luna-Aceves,
professor of computer engineering.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel ran a review of Music Department
lecturer Mesut Özgen's concert for the Cabrillo
College Distinguished Artists Series, calling it a display of
spectacular classical guitar.
Mathematical models of fish populations developed by Marc
Mangel, professor of applied math and statistics, were the
focus of an article in SIAM News, published by the Society
for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
