Openings in tango class

There are still spaces available in a class on Argentine Tango offered by the Recreation Department. The class will be held on Friday, February 4, and Friday, February 11, from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at the, East Field House.

Instructor Michael Mpyangu will teach the basic concepts and various types of steps of the Argentine tango and basic choreography. A great opportunity to learn a new activity in a fun and supportive environment.

Mpyangu's dance background started with African tribal and contemporary dance genres. He founded and was part of the Uganda National Dance Company from 1986 to 1990. He has taught salsa and Argentine tango in Oakland and Berkeley and conducted workshops in Uganda and Britain.

Cost is $20 for UCSC students and Wellness Card holders and $30 general. To register, call the Recreation Office at 459-2806
